Top Attractions

Oahu is full of natural beauty, exciting outdoor adventures, and interesting historical sites. Check out some of the island’s best activities for kids and adults alike. If you’re looking for things to do in Honolulu, just grab a rental car and hit the road.

Pearl Harbor

In December 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japanese armed forces. Thousands of American lives were lost, and, as a result, the U.S. entered World War II.

Pearl Harbor still serves as an active military base, and now it is a national historic landmark as well. During your visit, you can explore the Pacific Aviation Museum, the Battleship Missouri Memorial, the USS Arizona Memorial, and more. Admission to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center is free, but many sites within Pearl Harbor charge admission.

Zipline Oahu’s North Shore

If you want to take in the beauty of the island in a unique, thrilling way, then you’ll love ziplining through Keana Farms. The tour is about 3 hours long, and features multiple ziplines. The smallest zipline is 500 feet and the longest is almost half a mile long. Enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the Pacific ocean and mountains of Oahu.

In addition to the ziplines, the tour includes an ATV adventure, 3 sky bridges, 2 rappels, and an exciting look into a working farm.

Ala Moana Beach Park

If calm waters and fewer tourists sound appealing to you, then you should drive your rental car over to Ala Moana Beach Park. This man-made beach typically attracts more locals than tourists.

The beach is around half a mile long, and the waters are protected by an outer reef, which prevents a large surf. This beach is great for small children and beginner swimmers. The calm waters also make it a great place to try your hand at paddle boarding.

Waimea Valley

Waimea Valley is a great place to take in the natural beauty of Hawaii without having to go through a rigorous hike. The park features paved pathways through beautiful, lush botanical gardens all the way to the famous Waimea Falls.

Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit when you visit. The 45-foot waterfall pours into a pond that’s about 30-feet deep. Visitors are free to swim at the falls (weather permitting), but they must wear a life vest to do so. Fortunately, you can use a life vest from the lifeguards located at the falls. Don’t worry; your admission fee covers use of the life vest. There are changing rooms nearby along with a shower. Please note, there are no locker rentals available for use.

There are so many things to do in Oahu, you’ll want to come back again and again. Pick up your HNL car rental at Honolulu airport, check out our current offers, and get ready for a vacation you’ll never forget.
