These frequently-asked questions were assembled to help you understand Budget’s fast and friendly car rental process. If your question isn’t answered here, please contact us.

Nothing is more important than the health and safety of our customers and our employees, and Budget has taken countless safety measures to make the experience safe for everyone. We are using EPA-certified disinfectants before and after each rental, with special attention paid to: steering wheels, dashboards, hand grips, radio dials, cup holders, center consoles, door handles both inside and outside. Multiple cleanings are done for each vehicle.

Disposable gloves and/or hand sanitizer will be available at our locations, and rental agents will be wearing masks. Customers can and are encouraged to wear masks; however they may be asked to adjust the mask while checking identification.

Absolutely. If you feel comfortable bringing your own cleaning/sanitizing items, feel free to do so.  Please use items that do not contain bleach, or have “plus bleach” on the label, as they risk damaging surfaces of the vehicles.

There are no special precautions necessary for renting a car. We recommend the CDC’s website as a resource for ways that Customers can best protect themselves from becoming ill. Additionally, Customers are encouraged to wash their hands frequently and use hand sanitizer and/or anti-bacterial wipes when traveling. Of course, Customers should not travel if they experiencing any signs of illness.

We have implemented several new procedures in order to limit contact at our locations.

  • We use plexiglass counter shields to observe social distancing protocols
  • Floor decals at our rental counters, so you will stay six feet from other customers
  • Paperless rental agreements are available at most locations
  • We are limiting the amount of passengers on each bus

To travel with complete flexibility, choose “Pay Later” when making a reservation on Budget.com, and you may cancel or modify your reservation any time.

Budget does not charge a fee to customers that change their rental dates.  If the price to rent the vehicle on the new date is higher or lower than the original date, your cost will be adjusted accordingly.

If you must travel during this time, or if you are planning future travel, we are here for you and want you to know that every one of our colleagues is working diligently to provide the highest levels of safety at our facilities and in our vehicles.  Our employees use masks at all times. Employees are required to wash their hands frequently and have been trained on CDC guidelines, including products and processes available to ensure your safety. Employees are required to stay home if they don’t feel well.

If a customer is impacted by COVID during their rental period, they should contact customer service at 1-800-354-2847. The agents will provide further information on available options of safely extending the contract and/or returning the car.
