Where Is Budget Car Rental at the Houston Airport (IAH)?

Fastbreak Service
Proceed directly to Budget bus and the driver will take Fastbreak customers to the Fastbreak canopy. Find your name on monitor and proceed to designated vehicle area. Choose vehicle & proceed to exit booth. Present driver's license & hang tag to Budget agent.
FASTBREAK RETURN: Follow the airport signs for Car Rental return. You do not need to return to the counter to complete your rental. Record your mileage and fuel level on the rental agreement and drop it in the Budget Fastbreak return box. A closed rental agreement will be mailed to you within 48 hours.
General Directions
COUNTER: AIRLINE PASSENGERS: Proceed to the Rental Car Shuttle Bus which will take you to the Rental Car Facility. The Budget counter is only open during regular business hours, however, the shuttle bus is available 24 hours a day.
DISTANCE from terminal to car lot: 4 miles.
LOCAL RENTERS: Follow signs for Car Rental Return which will guide you to the rental car facility.
RETURNS: Same as pick-up.
DRIVERS CIRCLE
When you arrive, go to the Budget counter in the baggage claim area. The manager or key person will have your contract ready and personally escort you to your vehicle.
Valet Return: If offered, you will be told about our service as you are escorted to your car.
After-hours Returns
Return area is open 24 hours a day in a secured lot and staffed from 5am-10pm. When the return area is not staffed, customers can leave keys inside the vehicle. Do not lock the vehicle. Remember to take all your personal belongings with you.
A vehicle that is returned after hours will be checked in when the location opens the next business day. If returning after hours when a location is closed, the customer is responsible for the vehicle until the satisfactory check in of the rental vehicle the next business day.

To return your Budget car rental to IAH airport, drive toward the airport. As you approach the airport, follow the “Rental Car” signs to reach the Rental Car Center. Then follow signs for Budget.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is the biggest airport in Houston. It’s one of the largest airport hubs in the United States. IAH is located about 23 miles from downtown Houston, so renting a car is a great way to get around the huge Houston metro area.

Houston has two major commercial airports due to the high volume of flights in and out of the city. George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is the larger of the two and tends to serve more flights, plus longer flights by larger planes. The smaller airport, William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), is located seven miles south of downtown.

IAH is a major hub for United Airlines for both domestic and international flights. The airport is also a focal point for Spirit Airlines. IAH hosts 27 different airlines, including:

  • Frontier

  • Air Canada

There is little difference between intercontinental and international, at least in terms of airports. Intercontinental technically refers to flights between two continents. International means between two countries, which may or may not be on the same continent. So a flight from the United States to Canada is international, but not intercontinental.

Hobby Airport is closer to downtown Houston. It’s seven miles from downtown, whereas IAH is about 23 miles away. Regardless of which airport you fly into, renting a car makes it easy to get to your destination without relying on rideshares or hauling your luggage onto public transit.
