The Museum of American Innovation is home to the marvelous Mathematica interactive exhibit for kids and the only surviving prototype of a Dymaxion House. The historic districts of Greenfield Village will take you through the life of Henry Ford and artisan works like glass blowing and pottery. You can take a tour of the Ford Factory and learn how a Ford F-150 is manufactured, or see a movie on the IMAX screen.

As their motto states, Frederik Meijer Gardens are “Always Growing. Always Beautiful. Always New.” You can visit the horticultural displays over and over again, and always discover something new and stunning. The sculptures are created by many different artists, and materials vary from driftwood to metal. During your visit, you can see cacao trees, visit the 1880s farmhouse, and view the breathtaking orchid wall.

 

#4. The Tahquamenon Falls

The beauty of the Tahquamenon Falls is “Pure Michigan.” The Upper Falls are 200 feet wide and have a 50-foot drop, making it one of the largest falls east of the Mississippi. Four miles downstream are the five Lower Falls, not quite as massive, but still just as glorious. The falls can be viewed from shore or you can rent a boat to row out to the island and view the falls. Camping is also available in Tahquamenon Falls State Park.
