Purchase of Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is optional. Exception: LDW is MANDATORY for pickup, luxury and all SUV, specialty and van groups.  

Purchase reduces the customers financial responsibility in case of damage to the car. If LDW is declined, customer will be responsible for full value of the car. LDW is MANDATORY for pickup, luxury and all SUV, specialty and van groups. To decline, customer needs to present a Budget valid credit card. An additional hold will apply.

See CID hold for additional information.  In case of an incident/accident, customer must present a transit report explaining the incident/accident to validate the coverage. The coverage just applies if the incident/accident occurred with a movable object. Intentional damages, when cuswtomer cannot demonstrate how the car was damaged, could be charged, despite having chosen the LDW/CDW.

 

Customer is advised to contact the card issuer to be sure about the coverage before the rental. The coverage or insurance sales for suppliers that are not Budget agencies are an agreement between the suppliers and customers. For these cases, the LDW is MANDATORY at Budget locations at the moment of the rental.

Loss of Use - Covers the time the vehicle is being repaired when the location can not rent out the vehicle.

Budget Dominican Republic accepts Budget Charge Cards, American Express, Diners Club, Discover Card, Mastercard, Visa.  Diners Club and Discover cards are ONLY accepted as final payment.  Note: Credit Cards without raised numbers are not accepted in the Dominican Republic without purchasing LDW - Loss Damage Waiver.

Additional charge card holds: All rentals will require a deposit of two HOLDs on the credit/debit card, one for the value of the total rental amount and if LDW coverage is accepted, the second hold will be for $200.00 USD. If LDW is declined, the customer is liable for full value of the vehicle. The second hold required will be for $800.00 USD or $1500.00 USD depending on the category reserved. The customer’s credit card will be charged for any damage incurred during the rental, any details required must be submitted to the counter.
NOTE: For the hold just American Express, MasterCard and Visa are accepted. LDW is mandatory for specialty car groups G (LFAR) (Luxury SUV), group K (FQMR) (Full-size Pickup Truck Ext Cab), group L (UFAR) (Premium Elite SUV), and group M (IVAR) (Intermediate Van).

At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid driver's license in the driver's name from their country of residence.  Customers presenting a driver's license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license.

All additional drivers must meet the same drivers license requirements as the renter and must be present at the time of rental.

An additional fee of 5.00 USD per day per driver (taxable)will apply.  An additional underage fee may apply for underage drivers.

At this location, the minimum age is 25 for all car groups.  Maximum age is 70 for all car groups. An underage surcharge of 5.00 USD will apply to drivers 21-24 years of age.  NOTE: The minimum age for car groups Luxury, SUV and Pickups are 25 for all renters, even with a travel voucher.

Fuel is not included in the rates. Vehicles must take a prepaid tank or decide to return with a full tank (or equal to the level at pickup) OR a refueling charge may apply. If prepaid tank is taken, there will be no refund.

Cars can be returned to other Budget locations within this country based on car availability. Fees vary according to distance between locations and depending on car group rented. One way fees may also apply to any special equipment rented. Vehicles are not available for one-way rentals outside this country.

- A local driving permit of .95 USD per day will apply for all locations, this value is on the rate chosen.

- Roadside SaftetyNet (RSN) service is available at all locations, .95 USD per day taxable.

- Cars can be returned on any Budget location within this country based on car availability.  Fees must apply on rental and vary according to distance between locations.  Outside country returns are not available.
