What is Budget e-Toll?
Budget e-Toll, our electronic toll collection service, makes highway travel more convenient! Budget e-Toll eliminates the need for travelers to carry change or wait in long cash payment lines at toll plazas, and allows Budget renters to zip through designated electronic toll payment lanes. Pay your toll electronically in the Northeast United States (from Maine to Virginia), Florida, Colorado, California, Oklahoma, Texas, Chicago areas and Puerto Rico.

How does e-Toll work?

Colorado
In the state of Colorado customers automatically opt-in to use Budget e-Toll when they use the Express Toll video lanes or toll transponders in Colorado. To operate the transponder you must swing open to use. When a renter utilizes these lanes, the toll system identifies the car and charges the standard non-discounted fee for toll roads as published by the toll authority plus the convenience fee of $2.95 per day and $14.75 maximum per month. The fee will be charged to Renter's credit card.

Florida
In the state of Florida the renter has the option of using Sun-Pass Only, ePass Only, and Leeway high-speed lanes. When a renter utilizes these high-speed toll lanes, the toll system identifies the car and charges the standard non-discounted fee for toll roads as published by the toll authority plus the convenience fee of $2.95 per day and $14.75 maximum per month. The fee will be posted to the credit card you used on your rental. Effective February 19, 2011, Florida’s Turnpike no longer accepts cash payments for tolls on the southernmost 47 miles of Florida’s Turnpike (Homestead Extension) in Miami-Dade County (Milepost 0 to Milepost 47. By driving on this road you opt-in to use of Budget e-Toll.

Texas
In the state of Texas customers automatically opt-in to use Budget e-Toll when they use EZ Tag, Toll Tag or Tx Tag. Vehicles are equipped with either video tolling capability or toll transponders. Simply drive through a designated EZ Tag, Toll Tag or Tx Tag based lane. When a renter utilizes these video/transponder based toll lanes, the toll system identifies the car and charges the standard non-discounted fee for the toll roads published by the toll authority plus the convenience fee of $2.95 per day ($14.75 maximum per month). Fees will be charged to Renter's credit card. There is no charge for Budget e-Toll unless you use it.

U.S. Northeast (Maine to Virginia), Chicago Area and Puerto Rico
In these areas simply drive through a designated EZ Pass (Northeast), or I-Pass (Chicago) transponder based lane, swing open the transponder box. In Puerto Rico, you can drive through a designated AutoExpreso based lane. The sticker tag is located in the vehicle, just drive through. Your credit card will be charged the standard non-discounted fee for the toll roads as published by the toll authority plus the convenience fee of $2.95 per day ($14.75 maximum per month). There is no charge for Budget e-Toll unless you use it.

State of California
In the state of California the vehicles are equipped with a transponder tag. Simply drive through a designated Fastrak based lane, slide open the transponder box. When a renter utilizes these lanes, the toll system identifies the car and charges the standard non-discounted fee for toll roads as published by the toll authority plus the convenience fee of $2.95 per day and $14.75 maximum per month. There is no charge for Budget e-Toll unless you slide open the transponder box.

 

State of Oklahoma
In the state of Oklahoma the vehicles are equipped with a transponder tag. Simply drive through a designated PikePass based lane, slide the transponder into the on or off position. When a renter utilizes these lanes, the toll system identifies the car and charges the standard non-discounted fee for toll roads as published by the toll authority plus the convenience fee of $2.95 per day and $14.75 maximum per month. There is no charge for Budget  e-Toll unless you leave the transponder in the closed position.

How much does e-Toll cost?
When Budget e-Toll is accessed even once per rental period, customers will be charged the posted cash toll rate, plus a convenience fee of US $2.95 per rental day ($14.75 maximum per month).

How to I sign up for e-Toll?
State of Florida
Every rental car is e-Toll ready. No pre-enrollment or sign up is required. No extra paperwork is required and customers to not have to stop at the Budget counter if they want to utilize Budget e-Toll. When driving a Budget vehicle, the renter has the option of using the Sun-Pass only and ePass only express lanes without stopping. If the renter decides to use the express lane, the renter will be charged the standard non-discounted fee for the roads as published by the toll authority plus the convenience fee of $2.95 per rental day for each and every day of your rental or $14.75 maximum per month for use of this service.

Northeast (Maine to Virginia/Chicago Areas), California, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas and Puerto Rico
Majority of vehicles are equipped with Toll transponders. Customers who wish to rent a vehicle with a toll transponder should request a vehicle at the time of reservation or at the rental counter. When driving a Budget vehicle, renters will opt-in to using Budget e-Toll when they swing open the transponder box and expose the actual transponder when traveling on these toll roads.

How do I use e-Toll?
State of Texas
Vehicles in Texas will be equipped with either video tolling capability or will be fitted with toll transponders. When an Budget vehicle passes through an EZ Tag, Toll Tag or Tx Tag based lane, the vehicle's toll charges are calculated electronically and charged to the same credit card that is used to rent the vehicle, plus a daily service fee of $2.95 per day ($14.75 maximum per month).

State of Florida
The rental vehicle license plate is linked to your rental agreement. Cameras capture images of the Rental vehicles license plate. You credit card will be charged for the posted toll price plus a $2.95 per day service fee. ($14.75 maximum per month).

State of Colorado
Customers automatically opt-in to use opt-in to use Budget e-Toll when they use the Express Toll video lanes or toll transponders in Colorado. The rental vehicle license plate is linked to your rental agreement. Cameras capture images of the Rental vehicles license plate. Colorado has video lanes or toll transponders. If you vehicle has a transponder, swing open the transponder. Your credit card will be charged for the posted toll price plus a $2.95 per day service charge (14.75 maximum per month). 

State of California
Vehicles in California are equipped with toll transponders. When a Budget vehicle passes through Fastrak based lane, the vehicle's toll charges are calculated electronically and charged to the same credit card that is used to rent the vehicle, plus a daily service fee of $2.95 per day ($14.75 maximum per month)

State of Oklahoma 
In the state of Oklahoma the vehicles are equipped with a transponder tag. Simply drive through a designated PikePass based lane, slide the transponder into the on or off position. When a renter utilizes these lanes, the toll system identifies the car and charges the standard non-discounted fee for toll roads as published by the toll authority plus the convenience fee of $2.95 per day and $14.75 maximum per month.

How do I pay for e-Toll?
Your credit card on file with the rental agreement will be charged. Toll charges will be applied after the rental car is returned, up to 30 days after the rental has closed.

How do I get a receipt? How do I view my charges?
Customers can access a receipt online and view their toll activity at e-tolls.com. Renter has (2) options in looking up a rental receipt: by Credit Card Number or Rental Agreement. Please allow up to 30 business days from the rental end date to have your receipt posted to the website. If a renter has been charged on their credit card and a receipt does not appear, please call 1-866-642-2000.

Why I am being charged a US $2.95 per rental day daily use fee?
Customers will be charged the standard non-discounted fee for the roads as published by the toll authority plus the convenience fee of $2.95 per rental day for each and every day of your rental or $14.75 maximum per month for use of this service.

How is the daily convenience fee charged and calculated?
You will be charged a US $2.95-a-day usage fee for each contracted rental day, up to US $14.75 maximum per month, once you access Budget e-Toll. The US $2.95-per-day convenience fee is consistent throughout the entire rental, regardless of how many tolls are incurred. For example, if you rent for three days and use Budget e-Toll once, you will be charged for the actual toll amount plus US $2.95 x three days. If you access Budget e-Toll each of the three days, and use Budget e-Toll each of the three days, you still will be charged US $2.95 x three days. If you never access a Budget e-Toll lane and never activate the Budget e-Toll transponder on your windshield during your rental, there will be no fee.
