Company expands its support program for Wounded Warrior Project. Establishes goal of $100,000 in contributions and donations. Parsippany, N.J. Nov 11, 2010 -
Budget Rent A Car today announced the launch of new online options that will enable the Company to team up with its customers to support the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP), a nonprofit organization that raises awareness and provides programs and services for injured U.S. service men and women.
“As Americans, we owe a tremendous debt to our military veterans, especially to those who suffer now as a result of their service to America,” said Thomas M. Gartland, executive vice president of sales, marketing and customer care for Avis Budget Group, parent company of Budget. “Budget Rent A Car is proud to honor them on Veterans Day and throughout the year with our support of the Wounded Warrior Project. With the help of our Budget customers, our goal is to raise $100,000 by November 11, 2011.”
Travelers in need of a rental vehicle now have three easy ways to support military veterans. They are as follows:
Pay in advance for car rentals and Budget donates to WWP - Budget offers travelers reserving a vehicle on budget.com an easy way to save money on rentals by paying in advance, as opposed to paying at the rental counter. Travelers who elect the “Pay Now” option can choose to have Budget donate $1 to the Wounded Warrior Project on their behalf. To effect the donation, renters must select the donation option from the rewards available on “Step 4” of the reservation process on budget.com.
“The Pay Now option on budget.com is the perfect way to lock in a great rate on a rental vehicle – and now, it doesn’t cost any extra money to support a great cause,” said Mr. Gartland. ”Travelers simply choose the donation reward and Budget will do the rest.”
Rent Budget using the WWP discount and support military veterans - Now it’s easier than ever to support our men and women in uniform. Just rent from Budget using the Wounded Warrior Project discount; customers save up to 20 percent on car rentals while WWP receives five percent of the time and mileage charges on the completed rental. Travelers must reference Budget Customer Discount (BCD) number R262200 at the time of reservation either online or via telephone. In addition, Budget will match up to $25,000 in contributions generated through this BCD number.
Donate directly to WWP at Budget.com/wwp - Budget.com provides travelers wishing to support wounded veterans an easy and convenient way to donate to the Wounded Warrior. Travelers wishing to support America’s wounded veterans can donate $1, $2, $5 or any amount of their choosing directly to WWP. One-hundred percent of contributions made at www.budget.com/wwp will support programs that help wounded veterans become active and positive contributors to their communities.
“Contributions made on budget.com/wwp are processed as separate transactions from Budget rentals, so our customers have documentation should they choose to gain the tax-deductible benefit from their contribution, with our rental contract and receipt processed as normal to facilitate processing business travel expenses,” said Mr. Gartland. “It’s another way that we add value to the rental experience – while honoring those who served our country.”
More than 39,000 of our nation’s armed forces have been physically wounded during the current military conflicts. Hundreds of thousands more are recovering with post-traumatic stress disorder, major depression and traumatic brain injury. Whether through caregiver retreats, combat stress programs, career and education services or adaptive sporting opportunities, WWP empowers warriors with the tools essential to not just survive their injuries but to thrive and achieve personal and professional success.
